Dreamplex Ngo Quang Huy: Pioneering the Future of Work with Wellbeing and Sustainable Design

In the bustling heart of Ho Chi Minh City’s District 2, a quiet revolution in the world of work has taken place.

Dreamplex Ngo Quang Huy, nestled near the corner of Xuan Thuy and Thao Dien Street, which offers both coworking and office for rent, was designed for a future of work where well-being and sustainable design are at the forefront of the workplace experience.

A new kind of Dreamplex

Dreamplex was founded in 2015 by Nguyen Trung Tin and has continued to improve its focus and efforts to become the most employee-centric workspace in Vietnam.

When the opportunity came to design a full-building Dreamplex with partner Luxury Lifestyle, the founding team and a group of handpicked partners set out to design an office people would love coming to.

The belief was that this would create a better world of work while making an office at Dreamplex Ngo Quang Huy a strategic tool for visionary leaders to attract, engage, and retain top talent.

A new kind of workspace

Workspace concepts and office design have evolved beyond functionality as the world deals with a rapidly changing work landscape following COVID-19.

With their confined cubicles and rigid structures, traditional offices are being challenged by a new wave of design philosophy—one that prioritizes employees’ mental and physical health.

Dreamplex Ngo Quang Huy launched in 2021 as a pioneer in this paradigm shift in Vietnam, reflecting a global trend of integrating well-being into the fabric of the work environment.

Sustainable Design

Dreamplex partnered with the renowned T3 Architects to create a sustainable concept where natural materials are used where possible. After an extensive thermo-study, energy consultant Artelia optimized the building for energy efficiency.

Spaces built for optimal productivity, collaboration, and wellbeing

More choices for teams

Dreamplex Ngo Quang Huy offers 12 different working styles in one building. Besides private, branded offices for up to 100 people, teams can access informal seating like lounge chairs and cafe seats, meeting rooms, phone booths, and meeting nooks.

Sustainability in Action

The transformation of the building from a “solar oven” to an eco-friendly haven demonstrates the power of design in creating a positive ecological impact.

Sustainable architecture has gained prominence in a world grappling with the urgent need to address climate change. Buildings are responsible for significant global energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. Embracing environmentally conscious design principles isn’t just an option—it’s a responsibility.

Dreamplex Ngo Quang Huy aligned itself with this ethos by following T3’s recommendation to utilize a double-ventilated bamboo facade, locally sourced materials, and energy-efficient temperature controls to reduce its carbon footprint while enhancing the comfort of its occupants.

Research reveals that energy-efficient buildings can experience a 28% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions and a 27% reduction in energy consumption. These figures underscore the practical benefits of sustainable design that extend beyond idealism to tangible impact.

A Wellbeing Oasis Amidst Urban Hustle

Besides sustainability, the team designing Dreamplex Ngo Quang Huy deeply focused on well-being, believing that a conducive work environment can significantly impact an individual’s overall wellness.

Recent studies have underscored the profound impact of the built environment on employee health and productivity. Incorporating green spaces, access to natural light, and ergonomic designs have boosted morale and enhanced creativity and cognitive function.

Dreamplex Ngo Quang Huy takes this knowledge and transforms it into reality.

The design seamlessly integrates elements that promote well-being—abundant natural light, a lush garden that offers an escape from the urban hustle, and carefully curated greenery that fosters tranquility.

Besides natural light, green, and clean air, the team behind Dreamplex Ngo Quang Huy also focused on providing comfort – for example, by allowing for places that shelter from the open social spaces and private offices.

Comfort is the number one priority for Vietnamese Gen Z when it comes to their dream office, according to Dreamplex and Decision Lab Gen Z in Vietnam research.

T3 Architects: Crafting a Sustainable Vision

Integral to the metamorphosis of Dreamplex Ngo Quang Huy is the experience and expertise of T3 Architects, founded by Charles Gallavardin and Tereza Gallavardin, who specialize in designs that prioritize well-being and sustainability.

In an interview with Archdaily, the team at T3 noted that the project wasn’t just an opportunity for architectural innovation; it was a chance to redefine the future of office spaces. Charles highlights the significance of creating an environment that adapts to the unique needs and aspirations of the Thao Dien neighborhood.

T3 spent months analyzing the building and its environments to develop the elegant concept and attention to detail for how people would work in this building.

To make Dreamplex Ngo Quang Huy a beacon of well-being and understanding the importance of good lighting, T3 also invited Kobi Studio. Collaborating with Kobi Studio ensured that the workspace adhered to WELL standards, providing proper work conditions and enhancing the overall experience for occupants.

Lighting isn’t merely a functional aspect of architecture—it’s a powerful tool influencing mood, productivity, and well-being. By incorporating lighting that aligns with well-being principles, Dreamplex Ngo Quang Huy further reinforced its commitment to fostering an environment that nurtures the holistic health of the people working in it.

The Hybrid Work Revolution

The global pandemic has catalyzed a seismic shift in our approach to work. Once seen as an exception, remote work is now a prominent feature of the professional landscape. This change has prompted companies to reimagine the purpose and design of physical workspaces.

Dreamplex Ngo Quang Huy is uniquely positioned to thrive in this new era. Its emphasis on flexibility and community mirrors the evolving role of the office.

Research shows that only 10% of Vietnamese Gen Z want to work in an office full-time, but most don’t want to work from home all the time either.

This shift means we need flexible spaces catering to various work styles and preferences, especially for collaboration and online meetings. The location’s 12 distinct working styles respond to this demand, offering solo work, collaboration, meetings, and relaxation settings.
